During the low crop season which usually starts in March, cocoa production is less than 3% of the yearly output, and farm preparation activities are at their peak. At this time, farmers need finances to maintain their farms. Fortunately, in all certification courses that are being taught nowadays, cocoa farmers are also educated on the advantages of cocoa farms which can plant other fruits trees, plantains, and tubers on the farms. For a good fringe of these farmers, the other crops such as oranges, citrus, yam, and plantains, could serve as a means of survival till the start of the new season in August.
