Domestic cotton production drops by 40% while imports rising by 40% in Turkey

Cotton production output for the current year is expected to be 626 KMT which is by 40% less than last year's 819 KMT.
During the 2019/20 season as of the end of June, the total imports are reported to have exceeded 918 KMT therefore, by the end of the year it's estimated that cotton imports will easily exceed 1 million tons which represent an increase of 39% compared to the same period last year.
The main cotton exporters for the period were the US with 352 KMT, Brazil with 178 KMT, and Greece with 158 KMT.
