The 2022 Spanish persimmon campaign is the most challenging so far due to a 60–70% loss in production caused by heavy rains. In W46, the market's high demand for persimmon keeps prices from falling below USD 2.07/kg EXW Spain. The persimmon campaign is expected to end by W50, four weeks earlier than usual. Only producers who treat their persimmons to delay harvest will be able to continue the campaign after W50, though there will be fewer fruits available and the price will be even higher than it is now. Companies are even considering importing persimmons from other origins, such as Turkey, due to the severe lack of product availability.
