British exports of red meat exceeded the pre-pandemic levels by about USD 42 million, reaching more than USD 1.89 billion in 2021. This was mainly due to more exports to countries that signed new trade agreements with the UK. Pork exports in Canada totaled USD 7.7 million, which is 82% more than in the previous period; this increase is fueled by a renewed free trade agreement in early 2021, while exports to the US reached USD 29.5 million, being 17% more, in context when the US removed the 25 % tariff. Beef exports also increased. At USD 9.28 million in value, the exports to the US were about 7 times higher than in 2020. UK sheep meat exports were 31% higher in Canada, totaling USD 2.43 million.
