A number of tests carried on samples of orange imports originating from Argentina, Uruguay, and South Africa have tested positive for banned pesticides and substances. The tests were done by La Unió, a Spanish association of citrus fruits producers based in Valencia, Spain. The association had informed the situation to the European Commission many times but it seems nothing has been done to control this issue as the products are still priced higher than the imports due to highly controlled practices.
