Export volume of tomato increased by 43% in January 2022 compared

The export volume of tomatoes, which was USD 58 million in January 2021, increased by 43% to USD 83 million in January 2022. The share of fresh tomatoes in total is USD 43.6 million, increasing 23% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In 2021, Turkey exported fresh tomatoes to 53 countries. Russia has the highest demand for fresh tomatoes, with USD 68 million. It was followed by Romania with USD 58 million and Bulgaria with USD 41 million.

In tomato exports, tomato paste came after fresh tomatoes with USD 208 million. The increase in tomato paste exports was recorded as 32%. Iraq ranks first with its tomato paste demand of USD 120 million. The second country was Italy, with USD 18 million. Germany ranked third with a demand of USD 11.5 million. Turkey exported tomato paste to 122 countries.
