Farm-Gate Price Trend of Indonesian Vannamei in July 2022

Indonesian Vannamei’s farm-gate price until mid-year 2022 showed a downward trend. The farm gate-price dropped after the Eid harvest season in May. Vannamei shrimp is an aquaculture commodity that is available throughout the year with a cultivation period of about 3 months. However, the vannamei high harvest season in Indonesia occurs on 3 periods:

1. April-May : before Eid ul Fitr
2. August-September: after : harvest season after Eid ul Fitr
3. November-January: last harvest season for new year and Lunar new year

Currently, vannamei farm-gate prices are starting to show an upward trend. Prices for size 50 average $4.74, while the normal price for size 50 is $5.01. Although prices haven't reached the normal point, they have shown a positive trend compared to end-June 2022, when the vannamei price for size 50 was $4.54.
