Vietnamese Farmed Fish Prices Witness Decline in W49 Amid Increased Market Variety

During W49, in the Vietnamese market, retail prices for various farmed fish species such as snakehead, tilapia, pangasius, and catfish have experienced a decline of USD 0.21 to 0.41 per kilogram (VND 5,000 to 10,000/kg) compared to Nov-23. For instance, the retail price of pangasius has decreased from USD 3.30 to 3.51/kg (VND 80,000 to 85,000/kg) to USD 3.10/kg (VND 75,000/kg), while shark catfish in W49 sells at USD 3.72/kg (VND 90,000/kg), a decrease from USD 4.54/kg (VND 110,000/kg). Similarly, the price of the big snakehead has dropped from USD 2.48 to 2.68/kg (VND 60,000 to 65,000/kg) to USD 2.27/kg (VND 55,000/kg). This decrease is attributed to the increased variety available in the market, including natural types, providing consumers with more choices.
