Recently, the local fishermen of catfish in Lampung province (South Sumatra) have completed their harvest and were able to record a production output of around 100 MT. This harvest was rather different as the production was done using biofolk system that was initiated by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia. The biofolk system was widely introduced in this province earlier this year, as an alternative to the conventional pond system, to solve the land limitation that can be used in the production of this commodity. Biofolk system reduced the necessity to dig land to create a farming pond, and this method also allows the fishermen to monitor the development of their fish more thoroughly.
