On April 11 and 12th 2022, the Portuguese authority for food security (ASAE) controlled 2,300 economic players and suspended four tons of food, including three tons of meat and almost a ton of potatoes that have been affected by storage conditions during transport (mainly related to the required temperature). With the increase in transport costs due to fuel prices, this is another obstacle that can create a price hike in food. Some of the buyers have expressed that the requirements must be followed, but with a more flexible procedure.
