Egypt's mandarin production is expected to decrease significantly in the 2022/23 season following unsuccessful flowering of the trees due to the heat waves. Most producers expect their production to decrease by more than 60%, especially for winter varieties like Murcott. This will decrease the availability of Egyptian mandarin this season resulting in increased market prices. Competing markets like Spain, Morocco, and Pakistan are also expected to have a decrease in production this season which will further reduce the availability of mandarins and push prices up in importing markets, especially European markets.
