Although fresh lime sales were slow in Europe in October, the price remained stable. In W44, the fresh lime price in the Madrid market in Spain stood at USD 10.00-11.00/4kg box, depending on the size and the end customer. In Northern Europe, price ranges are similar to those in Madrid, depending on the origin, size, and quality of the product. However, importers are cautious as consumption normally declines in November, and will only pick up at the beginning of December. There will be a slight increase in shipments due to imports of lime from Brazil, followed by imports from Honduras, Guatemala, and Colombia, which are subsequently traded in Madrid as well as on the European market at values 10% below the price of the Brazilian lime. More volume on the market, as well as cheaper alternatives, could put downward pressure on the price and push it lower.
