In W1, traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City have witnessed a sharp increase in the retail price of garlic. Local garlic is traded at USD 5.7 per kilogram (kg), an increase from USD 4.1/kg in W52. Similarly, the price of Chinese garlic stood at USD 4.1/kg, compared to USD 3.2/kg in 52. The price surge is due to the failure of previous garlic crops, resulting in low prices and a lack of interest in cultivation. This decreased interest in growing garlic has led to a reduced supply, and currently, the quantity of goods reaching the market is lower than it was during the same period in 2022.
