High temperatures and other weather factors have affected growing citrus plants in Egypt in 2021. The preliminary forecast indicates a 30-35% decrease in orange farms production compared to last season, which will lead to slightly higher prices.
Also there is a higher probability for big sizes mainly going to China, Europe & Brazil, and a lower probability for small sizes going mainly to India & Bangladesh.
As for mandarins, they are expected to suffer more than oranges since they are more sensitive to weather factors. On the other hand, Egypt still produces large quantities of citrus, so it will be able to meet global demand from the main markets despite the expected decrease in production volume.
