Giant squid season has ended for Peru as Dosidicus Gigas variety has migrated to warmer waters in the northern currents. This also means higher volumes in countries like Ecuador and even Asia.
The season has been good for Peru, exporting USD 381M, compared to USD 378M in 2020, from January to November 2021. The top destination has been China with 25% of the market share, followed by Spain with 22%.
