Global coffee crop of 2019 - 2020 campaign will be smaller

According to the report published by the International Coffee Organization (IOC) in September 2020, world coffee production will drop in the 19/20 harvest. The estimated volume is about 169.34 million bags (60kg) which is a drop of 2.2% in relation to the previous coffee year harvest.
The biggest decrease was witnessed for Arabica coffee, which decreased by around 5%, producing around 95.9 million bags. Robusta coffee registered an increase of 1.9%, with 73.3 million bags produced.
Brazil is one of the largest producers of coffee and also witnessed the biggest drop in coffee harvest. The harvest was about 10.9% less than the previous year, closing at 58 million bags. Despite the drop in production in Brazil, other major coffee producers in the world registered an increase. Vietnam produced 31.5 million bags, 0.7% higher than last year, Colombia with an estimated 14.1 million bags, an increase of 1.7%, Indonesia with an increase of 16.5% and an estimated harvest of 11.2 million and finally, Ethiopia, with an estimated production of 7.7 million, an increase of 2.1% over 2018/19.
