Global exports of luxury farmed Scottish salmon dropped off significantly due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In some geographies, sales were decreased by 70% because of the increasing logistics costs globally. However, orders have picked up again to pre-pandemic levels, and new regions and customers have been found. The best premium quality fresh whole gutted salmon, popular in the fine dining restaurants of France, is sold at wholesale pricing around USD 17.50/kg.
