According to a report conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, goat meat exports totaled 424 tons during Jan-Oct. This implies almost a 50% increase compared to the 213.3 tons of the same period of 2019.
The destinations were mainly distributed as follows: Sri Lanka 171.64 tons, Vietnam 135.2 tons, Bahamas 91.33 tones, and Angola 25.64 tones. The meat was obtained from animals slaughtered in cold stores located in Santiago del Estero, Chaco, La Pampa, Mendoza, and Córdoba.
According to data from the National Service for Agrifood Health and Quality (Senasa), Argentina has 32 other registered markets open/authorized to send goat meat to, such as the European Union, the Eurasian Economic Union, and Singapore.
When it comes to production capacity, the country has 18 goat meat processing plants authorized by Senasa to slaughter and export such meat. Six of them are located in the province of Buenos Aires; three in Mendoza; two in the City of Buenos Aires; and one in Córdoba, Chaco, La Pampa, Río Negro, Santiago del Estero; Santa Fe and Santa Cruz.
