Malawi Government Sets New Minimum Farmgate Prices for Maize and Soybeans for the 2023 Season

New farm-gate prices for the 2023 harvest season were announced, with a minimum price of USD 0.49/kg for Malawi's staple commodity maize, an increase from USD 0.22/kg in 2022. Meanwhile, the soybean minimum farmgate price is USD 0.78/kg, an increase from USD 0.47/kg in 2022. These price increases are attributed to the rise in production costs, natural disasters happening in Malawi, and other rising market costs.
