The last days of September were abnormally warm in Greece, with saturated humidity. Although these conditions favor a high rate of broccoli transplants in the fields, the plant survival rate was less than 50% due to airborne fungal diseases that create black spots and decay in many plants. The broccoli price remains high in the Greek market in W41, as high as USD 2.42/kg, which could help the suppliers score even some losses from the heat waves of June and July. Additionally, the low-volume products available offered a good starting position for the autumn season.
