Greek fresh strawberries entered export markets in W49 with limited early-season availability, falling far short of the winter peak production of 15 to 20 tons per hectare (ha). Despite the constrained supply, shipments are reaching German and Dutch retailers at high prices of USD 7 per kilogram (kg) Ex Works (EXW). However, strawberry prices are expected to decline quickly, potentially dropping to USD 3/kg if Europe’s economic conditions worsen and demand weakens before Valentine’s Day, an essential period for strawberry exports.
