Low Green Mung Beans Harvest Expected in 2023 in Tanzania Due to Minimum Rainfall

The dried green mung bean production in 2023 for the southern regions (Masasi) in Tanzania is expected to be lower due to minimal rainfall. In W11, the farmgate price for green mung beans from Masasi, which is 600km from Dar es Salaam port, ranges from USD 0.34-0.38/kg. But for the Lake Zone regions, over 1000km from Dar es Salaam port, the green mung bean price stands at USD 0.46-0.51/kg. The price is slightly higher compared to southern regions due to the inflow of buyers from neighbouring countries, which causes prices to increase.
