In Ho Chi Minh City, grouper is considered high-class seafood, mainly sold in restaurants, or exported to China. As such, the price of grouper in Vietnam is very high. But the tightening of Chinese imports and the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic caused more than 1,000 MT of commercial grouper to be left behind and the consumption decreased significantly. Due to this situation, the price of fish dropped sharply to about 3.9 - 4.75 USD / kg. The price in 2019 was between 6.91 - 8.64 USD / kg.
