The harvest of rainbow trout, which is also known as "Turkish Salmon', has begun in Samsun, Turkey, where it is produced in 35 fish farms. The fish are grown in net cages and are mainly exported to compete with Norwegian salmon in the export markets. The expected annual yield in Samsun for the 2023 season is around 15K MT of trout and 5K MT of seabass. This expected production yield in the city represent a significant increase over the 2022 production volumes which were 9K MT and 2K MT for trout and seabass, respectively.
