In W41, there is an oversupply of catfish in Indonesia, as mass harvest occurs in the southern area of Sumatra (Lampung and Palembang). The current farm gate price of catfish for the local market is USD 1.11 per kilogram (IDR 17,000/kg), and the export market is USD 1.01/kg (IDR 15,500/kg). According to fish farmers and middlemen, the main factor of this is the weakening of purchasing power and high harvest volumes. Some factories in Indonesia are holding back from buying catfish from local farmers due to the high stock of unsold products in cold storage.
