High import taxes instituted on candy and other confectionery goods in Turkey could stop exports from Ukraine. Ukraine has exported 7.5 kmt of snacks and confectionery goods in 2019 to Turkey. So far, Ukraine has also exported 3.1 kmt of snacks and confectionery goods in 2020. The average export price was 1.81 USD per kg. The authorities in Ukraine noted that the Turkish import tax system brings roughly 35% to 40% import taxes on Ukrainian snacks and confectionery. This high percentage of import tax might impact the import inflow for the goods.
