The abundant supply of watermelon in the central Indonesia region has brought the price of this commodity down in recent weeks. Previously, the price of watermelon in the entirety of June and in the first 2 weeks of August of 2020, was around IDR 10.000-12.000/Kg. At the moment, the price of watermelon across the region is only around IDR 8000/Kg. Aside from the production output from the local farmers, the supply of watermelon in the Central Indonesia region also comes from the farmers in East Java that need to find the alternative market to distribute their product, as the ability by the local consumers and businesses to absorb this commodity has been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that lowered down the buying power and fruit buying pattern.
