Hot weather had a negative effect on the 2021 crop of figs, by creating mold problems for the figs planted in plain areas. Shortage in good-quality products also leads to increased processing costs. (Processing cost is higher for low-quality figs) -causing a price jump. Still, there are expectations for lower prices starting from the 6th of October, which is the first day of 2021 crop exports. Currently, export companies are aiming to enter the Indian market, since the main supplier, Afghanistan, is facing inner turmoil.
