During W3, there has been a significant increase in the arrival of United States (US) apple shipments to Vietnam, driven by preparations for the upcoming Lunar New Year in Feb-24. However, US apples are facing tough competition from counterparts originating in New Zealand and South Africa, leading to challenges in terms of consumption.

This challenge is primarily attributed to pricing dynamics, as apples from New Zealand and South Africa are generally 30 to 40% more affordable than their American counterparts, depending on the apple variety. Consequently, Vietnamese consumers prefer the more cost-effective options from New Zealand and South Africa, creating a substantial obstacle for the market share of American apples in the consumption landscape.
