Prices for cucumbers in the Tokyo market showed an upward trend in W49. Prices stood around USD 1.66-3.35/kg in W49 2022, an increase from the prices that ranged around USD 2.28-2.34/kg in W49 2021. The temperature drop slowed cucumber growth, resulting in a 14% YoY decline in market supply, influencing the price rise. In W50, the Tokyo market continued with a relatively small supply, and the cucumber price was about 40% more expensive than in 2021. The set price range is anticipated to return to normal due to the delayed crops.
