There has been a significant week-over-week (WoW) increase in prices for Fresh Pink Shrimp (Parapenaeus langirostris) across various markets in Italy. In the Tyrrhenian Sea (Rome Local Market), catches sized 60 to 100 units per kilogram (kg) experienced a 33% WoW increase in W13, reaching USD 11.81 to 13.95/kg compared to USD 5.90 to 8.05/kg in W12. Similarly, in the Giulianova Local Market, pink shrimp caught in the northern Adriatic saw a 35% WoW price increase in W13, rising to USD 7.33 to 11.13/kg from USD 4.80 to 8.59/kg in W12. The surge is due to the Easter period, during which these shrimp species are consumed more than usual. This heightened demand has led to increased prices across many markets.
