Increased Prices of Export Quality MD2 Pineapple Suckers in the Philippines

The FOB price for Philippine pineapple suckers of the MD2 variety intended for export has increased to USD 0.30/piece. This price is applicable for all sizes. The total quantity for every 40-ft reefer container is around 90K pieces. The sales price of the pineapple suckers to plant in the local market stood at USD 0.12/piece (PHP 6.50) delivered to the site. The Pineapple industry gained popularity after the pandemic due to huge market demand in China after the borders opened in Q1 of 2022. Many local farmers have planted the MD2 variety this 2022.
