Pakistan has lifted the ban on imports of Indian sugar due to prevailing low prices in the Indian market compared to other markets. Prices of sugar in the Pakistan market are much higher than standard prices in other markets. The Indian government will provide a subsidy of ₹4,000 a tonne for the export of sugar by land to Pakistan and ₹6,000 a tonne by the sea in order to boost exports.
