Iranian Consumers' Growing Preference for Vietnamese Pangasius

Iran has become a significant seafood market for Vietnam, particularly for products like canned tuna, tilapia, and pangasius. The demand for Vietnamese pangasius in Iran has been steadily increasing, with exports experiencing impressive growth over the past five years. In 2022, pangasius export turnover to Iran surged by 137%, reaching nearly USD 5 million, representing 83% of Vietnam's total seafood exports to Iran. Despite a slight decrease in 2023, with exports exceeding USD 4.1 million, pangasius remains a dominant seafood export to Iran, accounting for 66% of Vietnam's total seafood export turnover to this market.
