In July, the predictions for the new pumpkin campaign in Italy were not as promising due to the summer heat and prolonged drought that had producers worried during the past 2 months. The pumpkins concluded the cultivation cycle weeks earlier than ever before. Despite initial concerns, the harvest in October was lower by only 8% YoY. Regardless of the small size due to adverse weather conditions, quality is excellent, and the price for W41 remains competitive at USD 0.80 to 1.00/kg. Alongside international varieties such as Americana, Butternut, and Asterix, several farms are committed to conserving traditional varieties such as Violina, Trombetta, and Delica.
