As of W15, the Vietnamese market still has a supply of Japanese apples, including varieties like Kinse, Ohrin, Jonagold, and Shinano. These Japanese apples stood between USD 64 and USD 80 per 10-kilogram (kg) carton. Many wholesalers recognize the distinct flavor of Japanese apples compared to those from the United States (US) or New Zealand. However, the higher prices of Japanese apples tend to discourage potential buyers. On average, New Zealand or American apples cost USD 40 per 18 kg carton, significantly lower than Japanese varieties. As a result, there is minimal interest in Japanese apples in the market.
