Lack of Bulk Tomato Concentrate Availability in Italy

Following the 2022 summer tomato crop, Italian production of bulk tomato concentrate destined for processing industries is no longer available. As the 2022 crop is less than expected due to the summer heat, drought and labour shortage, tomato concentrate producers have already pre sold and booked bulk product quantities to loyal customers with the remaining production destined for retail sales in both the domestic and export markets where margins are higher.
