Lime Prices Increasing in the United States Due to Low Supply

The price of Persian Lime went up in W37 in the United States due to a low import volume from Mexico. The United States market consumes about 400 Persian lime loads per week, and until September 13, only 226 loads arrived over the week. In W37, the market price stood at USD 38 per 40 lbs carton box on Cat #1 on caliber 110,150 & 175, $35 on 200 calibers, and $32 on 230 calibers. In W36, the prices were lower at USD 24-26 at 110-175 calibers and USD 20-22 at 200-230 calibers. The low supply is caused by the decreased production and quality in Martinez de la Torre, Cuitlahuac, Tuzamapan, and Tierra Blanca in Veracruz due to the heavy rains. Rains are still present in this area, so prices will continue to rise until production stabilizes.
