Lampung Robusta coffee is at risk of losing the Japanese market due to quarantine restrictions on pesticide residues. Exporters predict a potential loss of 18k mt per year of Lampung Robusta coffee if the Indonesian government does not take action. Robusta Lampung is subject to pesticide restrictions at the highest limit of 0.01 ppm. Exporters view that this maximum level is low for coffee bean products and, the government should approach the relevant parties in Japan to find common ground and agreement. The potential risk is not only to Lampung Robusta coffee but to all coffee bean products from Indonesia to the Japanese market.
