Less potato surface sown in fall; increase expected for the spring.

Uruguay's potato implanted surface was estimated at 2.4K hectares in the 2020 autumn harvest. This represents a drop of 9% compared to the same period of last year according to technicians from the Directorate of Agricultural Statistics (DIEA) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP).

2021 autumn sowing expectations are set at a similar level to those of 2020.
As for the upcoming cycle, 2020/21 spring-summer harvest, the sowing is expected to reach about 1.4K hectares, meaning a 10% increase compared to last year.
