According to the National Supply Company (CONAB), the rye harvest production was revised from 11.3 thousand to 10.2 thousand tonnes this 19/20 season, down 9.7%. The weather was the main cause of the losses. On both producing states, Parana and Rio Grande do Sul, there was occurrence of severe drought throughout the crop cycle. Nevertheless, the reduction in the yield of this cereal is not as significant as that of other winter cereals as rye crop is more tolerant to dry climates.
