US Live Lobster Exports to China Surged by 86% in 2023

In 2023, the United States (US) achieved a significant milestone in exporting live Boston lobsters to China, surpassing USD 182 million in total value. This marked an impressive 86% year-over-year (YoY) increase, setting a record in nearly five years. Despite this growth, live lobsters from the US only hold about a quarter of the Chinese market share, with Canada maintaining its dominant position.

In contrast, China's imports of live lobsters from Canada in 2023 were valued at USD 604 million, indicating a 17% YoY increase.
