In Canada, 25% of the 2022 potato crop was planted later than usual due to heavy spring rainfall. Reports indicate that yields have been above average for the crops planted on time. However, potato growers expect reduced yields on the later-planted crop and plan to delay harvest to give crops more time to grow before harvest. Although the conditions have been favorable for most of the growing season, the yield estimate falls short at 5.9K acres of potatoes this year, 500 acres less than it did a year ago.
