Rising demand for beef and a low supply of cattle in the dry season has pushed meat prices up in different areas across Tanzania. During the dry season, cattle lose weight due to the scarcity of feed, and farmers are hesitant to sell their animals in such a state. A kg of beef was normally sold at USD 2.82 but has risen to USD 3.47-3.91 at the beginning of October.
