The Malaysian blackpepper prices have been traded below the planting cost level for the past two years. As farmers are unable to generate enough revenue from their harvest, they are forced to cut down on the fertilization and pesticides to their pepper vines. This results in producing lower grade pepper berries which are not suitable for the Brown Label due to heavy loss in processing.
