The new approval from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) includes six new and two follow-up chicken factories from Thailand. Thailand has always been the world's top 5 exporters of chicken meat and products, with Japan and the European Union as its major importers due to their confidence in safety, quality, and world-class standards set by Thai regulations and requirements. In 2021, chicken meat exports to Japan were 461.20 M tons, accounting for USD 1,551.85 M, while in 2022 (1 January–31 July 2022), the export of chicken meat to Japan was 267.65 M tons, accounting for USD 996.66 M. Japanese auditors are satisfied with the process of cooking processed meat, projecting an increase in Japanese orders in the coming year in Thailand.
