Due to a hot and humid spring, the mango harvest has begun earlier than anticipated for several producers in Far North Queensland, Australia. It has overlapped with supply from the Katherine, NT region. A 7kg tray of mangoes costs USD 6.77 (AUD 10) in domestic Australia, and supermarkets even run marketing campaigns where customers may get a free mango along with their purchase. It is to encourage an increase in consumption and bulk buying. There is concern that some smaller producers may find it difficult to meet expenditures with the fall in pricing because there have also been increases in costs for labor, fertilizer, and packaging.
