Kenyan Mango Season Officially Commences With First Exports to Ship End of September

The 2022 Kenyan mango season is officially open with producers packing Apple mango primarily for major markets in Gulf countries. The first vessel departing the port of Mombasa is expected to leave on 30 September 2022. As of W39, the Kibwezi region has the best mango in terms of maturity. The FOB price port of Mombasa in W39 is USD 5.4/4kg box. Most customers prefer sea mode of transportation as the price increases nearly 100% for air transport mode. For instance the current air rate per kg for the month of September 2022 for Qatar, Dubai and Istanbul is USD 1.65, USD 1.20 and USD 2.40 respectively.
