An estimated 10kg pork sausage tested positive for African Swine Fever(ASF) was seized at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on 26 March 2022. All confiscated sausages will be disposed of in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. ASF disease is very easy to spread and can cause a very high mortality rate of up to 100% in the group of domesticated pigs thus crippling the pig farming industry in a short time. Malaysia imposed a ban on bringing in pig products from countries suffering from the outbreak of ASF disease including air flight passengers with luggage to prevent the risk of disease.
