At the end of Apr-24, Greek Bostana round-shaped seeded watermelons began their first exports, but the Northern European market hesitated to place new orders and expressed concerns about existing ones. Cold weather resulted in unsold fruit, triggering debates between suppliers and buyers. Consequently, prices could not be sustained, leading market players to negotiate a new balance. During W17, Greek Bostana watermelons were negotiated at the farmer level for around USD 0.50 per kilogram (kg). However, a further price drop is anticipated due to upcoming favorable weather conditions and East Orthodox Easter festivities, which will increase availability.
